Mass General Brigham has announced the appointment of Mary Ellen Schopp as their new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Schopp, who has been serving as the interim CHRO since fall 2023, is set to lead the organization’s human resources strategy, driving initiatives to support employees and advance the system’s transformation.
With a robust background in human resources leadership at prominent healthcare organizations, Schopp brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Previously, she has served as Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Vice President at both Baptist Health and Rush University Medical Center. Her expertise spans business strategy, cultural transformation, talent management, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Before her healthcare career, Schopp held senior HR roles in the consumer products industry and has a strong track record in executive coaching.
In her new role at Mass General Brigham, Schopp will oversee critical HR functions, including talent management, employee relations, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). She is also tasked with enhancing employee engagement through initiatives like the Clinician Experience effort and leveraging insights from the Employee Experience Survey.
