A Finnish based Industrial Technology Company, Valmet Oyj has recently hired an expert in human resource management, Anu Pires to take up the position of Senior Vice President for Human Resources in the company. As of September 1, 2024, Pires will take on this critical position, which will be on the Valmet’s organization chart directly under the President and CEO and as a member of the company’s Executive Team.
Valmet is set to benefit from the experience of Pires who has executive remit experience in several multinational companies and worked in human resources department in several organizations across different industries and geographical regions. She has significant international experience which will be useful for Valmet, and her focus on people’s management is an asset when joining the company’s executive team.

Before coming to Valmet, Pires worked at Paulig Group as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources since 2018 where she has been particularly influential in driving change across human resources strategies in the organization that specializes in the food and beverages industry in Finland. Her career path has also not been a straight-forward one; her career has taken her through different industries and geographical areas.
From 2017 to 2018, Pires worked as a Vice President of HR in the Lumene cosmetics company, based in Finland. She also had a brief employment with Outotec Oyj, a world-class company specializing in mineral processing assets and sustainable technologies from 2016 to 2017 where she worked in contrasting functions in Human Resource management. Furthermore, Pires has professional working experience in the technology field where she worked as Head of HR, APAC Mobile Device Sales, Nokia integration Microsoft between 2014 and 2015.
It is especially important to note that Pires was a member of the Nokia company for quite some time, where she served in various HR management positions starting from 1998 in Brazil and culminating in her tenure as the company’s HR director in China and India before 2014. This exposure has positioned her to have extensive knowledge on how to manage people in different cultures and successfully execute the right people strategies for organizations in different parts of the world.
Interestingly, Pires’ professional journey began at Valmet itself, where she started as an HR trainee and specialist from 1996 to 1998. Her roots in the company’s culture and her familiarity with its operations make her a natural fit for the role of SVP, Human Resources.
